Tasting Notes
Nose: Deep, decadent aromas of antique polished leather, pipe tobacco, rich molasses, and dark butterscotch, followed by blood orange peel, vintage oak funk, and sweet cinnamon bark.
Palate: Thick and coating with an oily texture, delivering layers of brandied cherries, salted caramel, toasted pecans, and dark chocolate, underpinned by heavy alligator-char oak and vibrant baking spices.
Finish: Exceptionally long and resonant, fading slowly with lingering notes of sweet tobacco leaf, scorched brown sugar, allspice, and aged Kentucky timber.
About the Distillery
Perched above the Kentucky River in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, the historic distillery operated under the Austin, Nichols banner throughout the late 20th century. Guided by legendary Master Distiller Jimmy Russell, Wild Turkey earned its reputation by utilizing lower barrel entry proofs, traditional rye-forward mash bills, and heavy #4 'alligator' char barrels, creating the dense, complex 'dusty' profile that collectors revere today.
