About the Distillery
Wild Turkey traces its lineage to the Ripy family distillery founded in 1869 on Wild Turkey Hill in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. Wholesale grocer Austin, Nichols & Co. began bottling and distributing the whiskey under the Wild Turkey brand in the 1940s before purchasing the facility outright in 1971. Renowned for low barrel entry proofs, heavy 'alligator' char barrels, and decades of stewardship under legendary Master Distiller Jimmy Russell, vintage Austin Nichols bottlings remain among the most sought-after treasures in the bourbon secondary market.
