1792 Extended Cask Finish
Experience the sophisticated fusion of classic Kentucky Straight Bourbon with an alluring rum cask finish. 1792 Extended Cask Finish delivers a tropical, sweet, and spicy symphony for the discerning palate. This unique expression offers a deliciously complex journey from nose to an enduring, flavorful finish.
Tasting Notes
Nose: A captivating and complex nose immediately presents with a delightful interplay of classic bourbon notes and the influence of rum cask finishing. Rich caramel, vanilla bean, and toasted oak provide a comforting foundation. This is elegantly layered with tropical fruit aromas – stewed pineapple, dried apricot, and a hint of ripe banana. Subtle baking spices like cinnamon and nutmeg emerge, alongside a faint suggestion of molasses or brown sugar from the rum's lingering sweetness.
Palate: The palate is remarkably smooth and medium-bodied for its proof, offering a harmonious blend of sweetness and spice. Initial sips reveal a burst of burnt sugar, dark caramel, and buttery toffee. The rum cask influence is beautifully integrated, introducing notes of caramelized plantain, rich demerara sugar, and a delicate, almost honeyed warmth. Underlying this are robust flavors of seasoned oak, vanilla custard, and a gentle rye spice that provides a pleasant counterpoint, adding structure and depth. There's a subtle chewiness, indicating a well-aged, albeit NAS, bourbon.
Finish: The finish is long, warming, and endlessly satisfying. It gradually fades with lingering notes of dark chocolate-covered cherries, a pleasant oak char, and a persistent, sweet molasses. The tropical fruit characteristics from the nose and palate resurface subtly, intermingling with a gentle spice that leaves a warm, comforting glow. The rum cask's impact is most evident here, providing a unique and memorable sweet lingering note without being cloying.
