About the Distillery

Nikka Whisky, founded by Masataka Taketsuru, the 'Father of Japanese Whisky,' established its Yoichi Distillery in 1934 on Hokkaido, Japan's northernmost island. Taketsuru chose Yoichi for its climate and natural environment, closely resembling Scotland, which he believed was crucial for crafting authentic Scotch-style whiskies.
